Christmas Day

The kids woke up pretty early on Christmas Day.  In Melbourne, Santa puts presents are the door of the bed as kids sleep.  Mia woke up at 3am and was too excited yo go back to sleep.  I think Santa needs a new strategy.

The kids got a couple of tweety birds that make nice songs and repeat whatever you say in a tweety bird voice.  Very cute, but only in limited doses.  They also got something to help power a paper airplane to make it fly farther.  That will need to wait until summer to try it our for real.

After Anu and did some Christmas shots (she didn't even need to convince me that it was an Aussie tradition), we played some backyard cricket with the kids.  It was a fun fame to learn.  It seems a lot like baseball, but was fun enough in the backyard, I wouldn't mind giving it s try on a real field.

We also played basketball will Jai's new ball.  We played Donkey, which is said variant of Horse (but easier since it has more letters - good thing it wasn't Ass).

After playtime, we drove back up to the hills to visit John's family again.  We had s very nice potluck there, and the kids got toys from some crackers (the exploding wrapped up tube, not the racial epithet).  After lunch, we did a little hike down to a popular lake nearby.  It was very scenic, and a good day to work off some of the food we had just had.
