Vancouver day one

Early start to the morning to get to the airport on time, and even then it was a little close for comfort.

The flight itself was easy - hopefully an indicator of tomorrow night's 15 hour adventure!

Vancouver is really nice!  Never been here before except to pass through so it was nice to see the city.  Evidence of the weekend's Grey Cup are is being torn down as we take the train downtown.

We lucked out on a hotwire deal at Sheraton near Stanley park and the kids are suitably impressed by the 20 story view.

We head out to the science center here (Spark) - one of the perks of the Ottawa museum pass we have is free admission to other centers worldwide.  It is very cool!  A lot of good hands on stuff, but the points of the exhibits are always clear.  I hope the renos to the Ottawa science and tech museum bring it up to par with the others in Montreal, Vancouver, and Calgary.

Avery and Trent both got to get up on stage for a show and volunteer, so that was fun.  The staff here is awesome and very helpful with the kids.  We only had a half day but would easily return if we had more time.

Took the train back downtown (can't wait for Ottawa light rail!), and found an awesome Italian place called the Italian Kitchen a few blocks from the hotel.  Great atmosphere, food, and service, especially for a family with young kids.  Highly recommended!

Tomorrow grandma comes to town and we'll meet up before the big flight.  It was -1 in Vancouver, -9 in Ottawa, and 28 on Sydney today.  Can't wait!
