We headed off from Rainbow Beach a day early so we could head down towards Brisbane. Cathy has a friend who has recently moved to Australia with her family, and they invited us over to stay for the night and visit.
On the way to Brisbane, we took a small detour by the Glass House Mountains, and grabbed some fast food on the way.
We got to our destination and had a great time relaxing. The kids swam in their pool and we took it easy. We had a BBQ (with kangaroo burgers too!) outside during another huge storm. Trent hardly ate anything.
The day was winding down so we started to put the kids to bed. During story time, Trent had to run to the bathroom, and was sick. The night was punctuated by frequent "interruptions", but at least Avery slept through it all.
The next day, we all recovered from the night before while Avery played with Cathy's friend's daughter (7 years old). After lunch, we drive to the Brisbane airport, dropped off the car, and flew up to Cairns.
Our place here is right by coast and close to the central business district. There are lots of cool restaurants and bars. It looks very different than the last time I was here! We ate out at a nice Italian place, grabbed some groceries, and then cane home to get ready for our big day on the reef.
