Mooloolaba Underwater World

This was our last morning in Noosaville so we packed everything up and drove to spend the day at Underwater World with Uncle Steve.
There was lots to see at Underwater World.  They had small stingrays and a touch tank full of various sea cucumbers and sea stars.  The sea cucumbers were the brightest coloured ones I've ever seen and the sea stars were a beautiful, brilliant blue.  They also had a few varieties of sea horses which was the first ones we've seen.  There were lots of freshwater and ocean aquariums, sea otters and a show featuring some of their seals.  Everything was indoor (or covered) which was good because it was another wet day.
Some highlights of the day were the many, many tanks of jelly fish, the huge 80m ocean tunnel which was amazing and the tank with two mantis shrimp.  In grade 1 Trent picked the echidna to do a project on which we saw yesterday and in grade 2 he picked mantis shrimp so it has been an exciting couple of days.   If you didn't click on the mantis shrimp video link above they can break glass with their powerful punch so they are pretty cool little critters.  Avery picked blue whales for her grade 1 project - that one is going to have to wait for another time because this is the wrong season for whale watching here.
After the aquarium we went for a little walk down the beach and checked out some of the crazy mansions on the water and then drove Uncle Steve to the airport.  He promised to take the rain back home with him so hopefully we'll have some drier days ahead.  After that we drove a couple hours up the coast to our next stop at Rainbow Beach.  We got into town in time to make supper and go for a dip in the amazing pool.  We have an amazing place here with an ocean view.  It is going to be hard to leave this place.
