Miedemas meet in muggy Maroochydore

On Friday, Steve flew in from Melbourne.  It was a rainy day in general, so the kids wrote in their journals, and hung out with Chris while Cathy and I drove to sunshine coast airport to pick him up.  The kids were soooo excited to see him!
After lunch, we went back down to Noosa's main beach and Hastings street for some shopping.  We got some ice cream and then we hiked a but more before it started to rain harder.
Came back to dinner, and some nice games with the six of us and some nice catching up.
Tomorrow we will try to go to Australia Zoo if the weather cooperates.

Noosa National Park

This morning we went to Woolworth's in Noosaville for groceries.  I thought Woolworth's was a department store, but here all they sell is groceries.  We discovered Milo, which is probably the best cereal ever.

After lunch we drove to the main beach in Noosa.  We made sand art and battled waves.  Very nice sand beach and good sized waves.  Great for the kids!

We took a 5km hike along the coast and saw some amazing views.  The coast is weathered and eroded granite, so it reminded us a lot of the coast at Killbear at Georgian Bay, but the waves made some amazing erosion patterns in the rocks.

We saw some koalas in the trees along the way and chatted with some Aussie tourists and locals.  Everyone here is so nice!

We stopped at a lookout and had a picnic dinner before we headed back.  The daily thunderstorms were moving in so we drove back to Ivory Palms Resort, got cleaned up and had a movie night with the kids.

Tomorrow, Uncle Steve arrives and the kids are super excited.  Hopefully the rain stops and we can get back outside to see some more sights.

Movieworld and Noosa

Okay, so I was wrong.  Dreamworld was not the last theme park we went to, but I am glad!
It was our last day in the gold coast and we needed a little bit of time to kill between checkout and checkin.  Our Sea World tickets let us into two of their other parks, so we decided to stop by movieworld for the morning and head to Noosa around lunch time.
Right away it felt better than Dreamworld did.  More shade, more fun in the streets with the WB characters like Batman, and the Loony Toons characters, and some awesome looking rides.  We quickly decided to stay as long as we could.
The kids loved the Scooby indoor coaster, as did Grandma.  After a quick lunch, the kids went to Loony Toon Land with Cathy and Chris, and I went to see how many coasters I could fit into 90 minutes.  I did the Superman and Batman rides.  Superman was so impressive I had to do it twice, which was easy since I was a single rider, and the workers there were so good and efficient.  I met up with the kids, did a few more rides, and we headed off to Noosa.
Noosa seems to be a resort town, and it has lots of high end shops.  We checked into the resort "late" (after 5), and found a nice steak place at the Marina, and called it a night.  We'll check it out more tomorrow.
